WASHINGTON - On Friday, May 15, 2020, Armstrong Williams, founder and sole owner of Howard Stirk Holdings Broadcast, and Capital Medical Supply, Inc. presented Howard University Faculty Practice Plan with a donation of 50,000 masks. Howard University Faculty Practice Plan operates the new Benning Road COVID-19 Clinic in the District's Wards 7 and 8, the hardest hit by the Coronavirus.
Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and Howard University President Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick were both on hand to receive the donation on behalf of the city and university. The donation of the 50,000 mask will assist in the life saving efforts of the medical professionals at the clinic. The mask donation could not have come at a better time with many surrounding areas loosening their stay at home restrictions. Mayor Bowser has extended DC’s stay at home order until June 8.
The Howard University testing site opened through a partnership with the university and Bank of America. In its new location, 4414 Benning Road NE, suite 2400, residents do not need a prescription to be tested. Providing the COVID -19 tests to some of the most vulnerable in the nation's capital is an important step in flattening the curve and hopefully getting the city prepared to re-open. Medical professionals would not be able to conduct these tests safely without the support and generosity of corporate citizens like Armstrong Williams.
“Everyone is suffering during this season of COVID-19, particularly underserved communities,” said Williams. “I’m just continuously thankful to the good Lord, we have the capacity to make a difference in other people’s lives, particularly those who need it most.”
Testing is available Tuesdays through Fridays, from 9a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Any individual living in Ward 7 and 8 can call the clinic and make an appointment for testing. Please call 202-865-2119, option 3.
